Lesson 5

This week we had a fantastic time persuading P4K to ‘buy’ our chocolate treats! Congratulations Chocolate Disks for having been voted the group with the ‘Most Persuasive Posters’. Thank you to all the parents for your kind contributions towards this activity.  We were awash with chocolate and were able to share our treats with both P4 classes, a P5 class and staff members too.  We had many happy customers and lots of kids behaving like the poet Michael Rosen in this poem Chocolate Cake.

During the lesson we also had some great YouTube poetry readings from Elena and Mael. Excellent choices again!

Elena read On the Ning Nang Nong by Spike Milligan (click on the for a video). It’s a fantastic poem full of all the things we’ve been listening for: rhyme, alliteration, onomatopoeia and nonsense words.

Mael’s poem, The Dark House by Anon was very appropriate for Halloween spookiness. And we got to talk a little bit about repetition too. We said it reminded us a bit of the beginning of the cartoon series Funny Bones (you can watch and episode here).

We also tried our hand at writing a Halloween alphabet poem together. Can you think of anything halloweeny beginning with Q?!
