Lesson 7

It was great to welcome everyone back to class today and to hear the children discussing what they did during their holidays in small groups.

We learnt about the use of apostrophes for contractions. Here’s a useful recap.

We listened to the following poems:

Hallowe’en by Leonard Clark (Alice) and Winter by William Shakespeare (Arthur). We had a bit of trouble working out what some of the lines meant, but here’s a great visual explanation.

We also learnt about similes. There’s a fun game here to help the kids identify common similes.

  • Read Akimbo chapter 1.
  • Spelling list 6
  • Fill in the Simile Self Portrait sheet.
