Happy New Year!
This week we started a new term and a new focus on storytelling and story writing.
We looked at features of different types of stories (genres): Adventure, Detective, Myths, Fantasy, Science Fiction and Fairy Stories.
We talked about what we enjoy and don’t enjoy about writing stories and what we can do improve our writing (use great Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers and Punctuation).
To begin with we’re going to focus on vocabulary and ‘choosing the right words’: adjectives, adverbs and verbs.
We reviewed the spelling words we have learnt so far and started a new class reader: The Worst Witch by Jill Murphy. (a new series of the book is about to be aired on CBBC in the UK; an earlier version is available here).
- Spelling list 10
- Adjectives sheet (finish class work and exercises on the back).
- Finish reading chapter one and two of The Worst Witch.
