Today, we started a new class reader: The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. One or two of the children had already seen the film, but I’d encourage them not to do so, until we have read the book. We will then do a ‘compare and contrast’ activity, as the film is a little different. Here is the video link for future reference.
We also looked at Roald Dahl books and organised them into groups of stories that start with a description of a setting, a description of a character, or dialogue.
Then, we used what we had learnt to create our own story-starter board game which we used to play a team version of noughts and crosses (tic tac toe).
Finally, we increased our knowledge of homophones (words that sound the same, but are spelt differently).
- Spelling list 14 (homophones)
- Finish homophones worksheet.
- Iron Man – read chapter 2 and answer the questions on your comprehension sheet.
- Make a list of 5 great adjectives from the chapter you have read.
